IRISH GENERAL ELECTION

That this House welcomes the outstanding achievement of Dick Spring, TD and the Labour Party of the Irish Republic in the recent General Election; notes that this closely follows the election of Mary Robinson, a left candidate, and first women, as President of the Republic; and wishes the Labour Party a successful conclusion to subsequent negotiations on the formation of an alternative Government that is popular and radically based.
