Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Derek Enright (Labour), on Thursday, 20 October 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 68 members in total.
SALE OF ARMS TO INDONESIA
That this House notes with the utmost alarm the announcement of Field Marshal Sir Peter Inge of plans to sell Scorpion tanks and 16 more Hawk aircraft to Indonesia; recalls that Indonesia is in illegal occupation of East Timor contrary to numerous United Nations resolutions; is appalled at the Field Marshal's statement that the blatant abuse of human rights in East Timor is 'the politics of another country'; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to follow the United States example and become a negligible instead of the foremost arms supplier.
