VOTES FOR A SANCTUARY FOR WHALES
That this House congratulates Antigua and Domenica on their decision to support the creation of an Antarctic sanctuary for whales; urges other Caribbean nations to resist the economic blandishments offered by Japan in return for votes for whaling: deplores the practice of swapping aid for votes; and urges the United Kingdom Government to call for an end to such practices in line with its own support for this sanctuary and the International Whaling Commission to agree it and implement it forthwith.
