Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Terry Rooney (Labour), on Wednesday, 16 March 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 36 members in total.
NEW ROLLING STOCK FOR ELECTRIFIED BRADFORD AND AIRE VALLEY LINE
That this House recognises that with the electrification of the Leeds-Bradford, Forster Square, services, and adjacent lines, that new electrical multiple units should be provided; regards provision of refurbished third-hand stock as a kick in the teeth for frequently overcrowded commuters; recalls that the Government can allocate as much as ??7 billion for new war-planes but puts the comfort and convenience of travelling taxpayers in West Yorkshire in an inferior category; and calls on the Government to ensure that new rolling stock is provided, built in Yorkshire, as a matter of urgency and at a tiny fraction of the cost of one European fighter aircraft.
