WIND-UP OF EAST KILBRIDE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

That this House records its appreciation of the work done by the staff of East Kilbride Development Corporation in helping to make East Kilbride a highly successful new town and in their whole-hearted efforts to ensure that the winding-up of the development corporation is achieved with the minimum of disruption to the on-going economic development of the area; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Scotland to honour in full the practice of payment of one year's salary in lieu of notice agreed between the Scottish Office and East Kilbride Development Corporation in 1989 when he was the Minister of State responsible for the Scottish New Towns.
