Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Evans of Parkside (Labour), on Monday, 17 January 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 93 members in total.

WOMEN AGAINST PIT CLOSURES CAMP AT PARKSIDE COLLIERY

That this House salutes the strength and fortitude of Mrs Sylvia Pye and her courageous band of supporters who, one year ago on 18th January 1993, established the Women Against Pit Closures camp at Parkside Colliery, Newton-le-Willows; notes with pride that the camp has been occupied by women volunteers for 24 hours a day, every day, for the past 12 months; believes that their continuous presence has ensured that the shafts and machinery have remained intact and that coal production at Parkside Colliery could be resumed in a matter of days; therefore calls upon Her Majesty's Government to end its vendetta against Britain's miners and the nationalised coal industry, abandon its vicious and unacceptable Coal Industry Bill and restore collieries like Parkside, with their heroic women defenders, to full production.
