Mr. Cousins: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what the rate of participation by 18-year-olds in higher education in each region in England was in (a) 2003-04 and (b) 2004-05. [216487] Dr. Howells: The latest information shows the proportion of 18-year-olds from each region who obtained places on full-time higher education courses via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), and this is shown in the following table. Figures for 2004/05 are not yet available.
