Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what his policy is on the provision of assistance with transport costs to mature students attending NHS sponsored courses at university; what other support is available to those who live outside areas identified for assistance with transport costs; and if he will list for each midwifery course sponsored by the NHS the areas within which assistance with transport costs is available. - (Holding answer 21 February 2005).

Answer: Mr. Andrew Turner: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what his policy is on the provision of assistance with transport costs to mature students attending NHS sponsored courses at university; what other support is available to those who live outside areas identified for assistance with transport costs; and if he will list for each midwifery course sponsored by the NHS the areas within which assistance with transport costs is available. [216931] Mr. Hutton: [holding answer 21 February 2005]: The provision of travelling expenses for mature students attending courses at university is a matter for national health service employers locally. Information about travelling costs is not held centrally.
