Question: To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will estimate the increase in revenue to the Exchequer of the introduction of a 49 per cent. rate of income tax on all incomes in excess of £100,000 for (a) 2005-06, (b) 2006-07, (c) 2007-08, (d) 2008-09 and (e) 2009-10.

[223263] Dawn Primarolo: Comprehensive information on income tax has been placed in the Library of the House, in the tables `Additional full-year yield from the introduction of additional higher rates of tax on TAXABLE incomes over a specific amount in 2005-06' and `Additional full-year yield from the introduction of additional higher rates of tax on GROSS incomes over a specific amount in 2005-06'. The income tax information is based upon the 2002-03 Survey of Personal Incomes and December 2004 pre-Budget assumptions and excludes any estimate of behavioural response to the tax change. Information for future years is currently unavailable but figures for 2006-07 will be available at the House of Commons Library by the end of April.
