David Davis: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proportion of people subject to deportation orders in each year since 1997 were successfully deported by the authorities. [223719] Mr. Charles Clarke: [holding answer 4 April 2005]: Information on the proportion of people subject to deportation orders who were successfully deported is not available, as persons who received deportation orders in a period are not necessarily deported in the same period. Data on the number of persons removed from the United Kingdom as a result of deportation action are shown in table 1. Deportations are a specific subset of removals alongside persons subject to administrative removal or removal due to illegal entry action.
