Tax Credits

Question
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what guarantees were (a) sought from and (b) given by EDS in respect of the tax credits IT project within one month of the introduction of the new tax credits system in 2003; and if he will make a statement;
Answer

Before the IT system supporting tax credits went into live running on 7 April 2003, the Inland Revenue received assurances and commitments from EDS that the IT system would be available and performing as expected, and would be fit for the purpose of supporting tax credits.
