NHS Student Grant Unit

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many applications have been (a) received and (b) processed by the NHS student grant unit for students starting their courses in September 2005; and how many grants have been awarded to date.
Answer

I am informed by the NHS Pensions Agency who are responsible for the NHS student grants unit that the unit received over 25,000 applications for new students starting their courses in September 2005. All of these applications have been processed.As at 5 December 2005, over 77,000 grants in total have been awarded by the NHS student grants unit.
