European Foreign Ministers Meeting

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what the total cost was of policing the European Foreign Ministers conference at the Celtic Manor Hotel in Newport; and what financial contribution his Department made.
Answer

I understand from the chief constable of Gwent police that the total projected costs for policing the conference are £3.6 million. This includes total additional policing costs of £3.2 million as well as other consequential policing costs. Gwent police have submitted an application for special police grant as a contribution to the additional costs incurred of policing the conference. This is currently under consideration.
