Venezuela
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of the likely effect of Venezuela's membership of Mercosur on the Free Trade Area of the Americas.
- Answer
-
Although an announcement on Venezuelan membership of Mercosur has been made, it is not yet clear what the practical implications of this will be. Therefore, it is not currently possible to make an assessment of the effect of Venezuelan membership of Mercosur on the proposal for a Free Trade Area of the Americas.
