Council Housing

Question
To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what criteria he applies in considering the results of multiple ballots of the same tenants on a single large scale voluntary transfer of council housing; and how he intends to deal with those circumstances in Sefton in August and November.
Answer

When a local authority applies for consent to transfer its housing stock it is for the authority to satisfy the Secretary of State on the range of criteria set out in section 16.2 of the ““Housing Transfer Manual 2005””—a copy is available in the Library. The application for consent should be received by the office at least six weeks before the transfer is due to be completed.
