- To ask the Secretary of State for Health what the cumulative deficit is of each NHS trust in England which has a deficit that it is required to clear to reach a break even financial position.

National health service trusts are expected to plan for and achieve financial balance each and every year.All NHS trusts with a cumulative deficit have a statutory duty to breakeven over a three, or exceptionally up to a five-year period.The latest year for which audited financial data is available is 2004–05, which has been placed in the Library.
