Animal Health

Question
Whether the portable real time polymerase chain reaction tests for diagnosis of foot and mouth disease have been validated by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE); and, if not, when they expect validation to occur.
Answer

Portable real time polymerase chain reaction tests for foot and mouth disease are the subject of ongoing evaluation and validation by various laboratories around the world. It is not possible to predict when the World Organisation for Animal Health will be in a position to recommend the approach for foot and mouth disease diagnosis as no specific validation dossier has yet been submitted.
