Light Rail/Trams (Funding)

Question: I acknowledge the Government's real commitment to the Manchester Metrolink, including the extension to Ashton-under-Lyne, which will go through my constituency. For the vast majority of people in Denton and Reddish, however, the bus will still be the main form of public transport. What discussions has my hon. Friend had with Stagecoach Manchester, particularly on the subject of tram-like buses?

Answer: I know that my hon. Friend is a champion for his constituents when it comes to improving transport. I have had no discussions with Stagecoach Manchester about buses, but as part of the overall public transport agenda we must try to find the best solution for each area. If possible that will include integration, whether it involves buses, trams or other forms of transport. I will try to find out more about what discussions have taken place, and then inform my hon. Friend.
