Economic Protectionism
- Question
- To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what response he made to the proposal from the Italian Finance Minister that he support a statement condemning economic nationalism and protectionism.
- Answer
-
The Government are committed to openness in trade and investment. We strongly believe that further steps are needed to drive up competition in the EU single market, as set out in the Budget. The UK will continue to advocate reforms that deliver these policy outcomes and will continue to raise these issues with the Commission and member states.
