Housing: Rural Areas

Question: Further to the Written Answer by the Lord Bach on 16 February (WA 197), whether the implementation of the proposal to remove the restriction on equity ownership from rural shared ownership schemes will be delayed until after the Affordable Rural Housing Commission has reported.

Answer: I refer the noble Baroness to my response to the noble Lord, Lord Carter, on 22 March (col. 238) in which I confirmed that we will continue to allow housing associations to restrict staircasing on rural exception sites where this is possible and appropriate under leasehold legislation. The Government will consider the findings and recommendations of the Affordable Rural Housing Commission when it reports in the spring.
