Tallow
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how much tallow was burned as a fuel in the UK in each of the last five years; and what assessment she has made of the potential effect on the animal by-product regulation on tallow burning.

Information on the quantity of tallow burned as waste by incineration and co-incineration is not available. The EU Animal By-products Regulation 1774/2002(EC) which came into effect in 2003 requires tallow when burnt to be disposed of as waste by incineration or co-incineration in accordance with the Waste Incineration Directive 2000/76/EC.
