Parliamentary Ombudsman

Question
Further to the Written Answer by the Lord Bassam of Brighton on 29 March (WA 126), on how many occasions since 1997, and in respect of which specific recommendations, the Department for Constitutional Affairs and its predecessors have refused or omitted to give effect to the recommendations of the Parliamentary Ombudsman.
Answer

Since 1997 the DCA and its predecessors have declined to give full effect on two occasions to recommendations made by the Parliamentary Ombudsman. These were both in relation to complaints made under the Code of Practice on Access to Government Information. The ombudsman’s reports on these two cases are in the Library.
