Parliamentary Ombudsman

- Further to the Written Answer by the Lord Bassam of Brighton on 29Â March (WA 126), on how many occasions since 1997, and in respect of which specific recommendations, the Charity Commission has refused or omitted to give effect to the recommendations of the Parliamentary Ombudsman.

I understand that since January 1997 the Parliamentary Ombudsman has investigated 16 cases of complaint against the Charity Commission. In six of those cases the ombudsman made recommendations addressed to the commission. In each of these cases the commission has given effect to the ombudsman’s recommendations.
