Children Act: Information-Sharing

- Whether they intend to create any link between the data on the information-sharing database introduced by the Children Act 2004 and any other database.

My Lords, the index covering all children in England will be introduced in local authorities by the end of 2008. To fulfil its purpose as defined by Section 12 of the Children Act 2004, the index will receive initial data and regular updates from existing databases to help establish and maintain accurate records. Information can be disclosed from the index only for the purposes set out in the Children Act.
