Speed Limiting Devices
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment he has made of the effect on the number of (a) injuries and (b) fatalities to heavy goods vehicle drivers of the compulsory introduction of speed limiting devices; and if he will make a statement.
- Answer

No specific assessment has been made. However, overall, the accident rate involving heavy goods vehicles decreased by 34 per cent. between 1991 (just before the fitment of speed limiters became mandatory) and 2002.
