Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will bring forward proposals to improve the Chowns Mill Roundabout at the A6/A45 interchange in Wellingborough constituency.

Answer: I regret that I am unable to bring forward any proposals for the major improvement of the A45/A6 Chowns Mill Roundabout at the present time.I have accepted the advice of East Midlands Regional Assembly that such an improvement is not a transport investment priority for the East Midlands in the period to 2015-16.However, the Highways Agency and Northamptonshire county council continue to work together to monitor, determine and provide minor improvements to help alleviate current operational problems at the junction, including provision of a footbridge for non-motorised users.
