Royal Fleet Auxiliary

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what progress has been made in settling the level of pay for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary in its 2006 pay review process;

Answer: In line with the Government's policy on controlling public sector pay, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) pay submission has been subject to close scrutiny by the Ministry of Defence and HM Treasury. This has taken some time to complete; but the RFA pay remit has now been received from the Treasury, and a meeting is to be held with the Maritime Trade Unions on 12 December to begin formal pay negotiations. There is no projected date yet for the completion of these negotiations or of the pay review.
