Nuclear Submarines

- To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list those consulted on the estimate of procurement timeframe for the programme to build new Vanguard-Class ballistic missile submarines; and if he will make a statement.

Officials have discussed submarine build programme timeframes with representatives from industry, primarily from BAE Systems, Rolls Royce and Devonport Management Ltd. As was noted in paragraph 1-7 of the White Paper (Cmd 6994), published on 4 December 2006, we have also taken account of the US and French experiences in this area.
