Pakistan: Jamaat-e-Islami

asked Her Majesty's Government:What response they received from Jamaat-e-Islami representatives in Pakistan when the Government pressed them to come down firmly against the use of violence.
Answer

We have seen no evidence that Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) representatives have recently publicly renounced violence. Qazi Hussain Ahmed, the leader of the JI party, did issue a condemnation regarding the kidnappings of westerners in Iraq.
