Proceeding contribution from Joan Humble (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 5 March 2007. It occurred during Urgent question on Welfare Reform.

Welfare Reform

I welcome the acknowledgement of David Freud—and of my right hon. Friend today—of the importance of affordable and accessible child care. Will he therefore liaise with colleagues in the Department for Education and Skills to look at two special areas where there are particular problems for lone parents: child care that is appropriate for children with disability, and child care for older children in the 10 to 14 age range for whom parents often have great problems in obtaining suitable child care?
