Crime: Prison Officers

Question
asked Her Majesty's Government:Why information regarding convictions and other criminal offences by prison officers is kept only in local records and not at the highest level of HM Prison Service.
Answer

As previously advised on 21 May 2007 (Official Report, col. WA 83), the value of central collection of information on staff prosecutions or convictions will be considered as part of the improvement plan to strengthen the Prison Service's approach to tackling corruption.
