- To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations she has made to the government of Pakistan on the reported views of its Minister of Religious Affairs on Sir Salman Rushdie; and if she will make a statement.

Our high commissioner in Islamabad raised deep concerns about the reported comments made by Pakistan's Minister for Religious Affairs with the Government of Pakistan on 19 June. We would strongly condemn any statement of this nature. It is clear that nothing can justify suicide bomb attacks.
