Proceeding contribution from Jack Straw (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 21 June 2007. It occurred during Business statement on Business of the House.
Business of the House
The hon. Gentleman’s sedentary comment may or may not be correct. I fully understand my hon. Friend’s sentiments. I will certainly ensure that the director of the British Library, as well as the director of the British Museum, is made aware of her views. As so much of our cultural and political life is centred on London, I hope that we may at some stage be able to develop a scheme similar to those that apply in some other countries, whereby at least once in a child’s school career they are able, paid for, to come to London to visit this House and some of the principal museums of the capital.
