Mercury: Barometers and Thermometers
- Question
- asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether they plan to prevent the import of mercury thermometers and barometers.
- Answer
-
The new directive to restrict the marketing of certain measuring devices containing mercury will not prevent the import of mercury thermometers and barometers. However, such instruments could not be sold to the public if it meant they were being placed on the market in the EU for the first time. These restrictions will not apply to antique instruments.
