- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much was spent by her Department on taxis in the last 12 months.

The Home Office spend on taxis for financial year 2006-07 was £962,533.The aforementioned figure includes expenditure by the core Home Office, the Border and Immigration Agency, the National Offender Management Service and the Office for Criminal Justice Reform (the latter two are now part of the Ministry of Justice).All travel is undertaken in accordance with the Civil Service Management and Ministerial Codes. The majority of expenditure, £666,440, was incurred by the Border and Immigration Agency on operational activities.
