Departments: Lisbon Agenda

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health what policies his Department has adopted to assist in the United Kingdom’s fulfilment of the Lisbon Agenda criteria.
Answer

A healthy population is a key driver to achieving economic growth. This is at the core of the Department’s policies to improve and modernise health services and to prevent illness and morbidity through activities such as health promotion.A key part of this will be to reduce health inequalities in the United Kingdom. The Department is working to a public service agreement target to reduce inequalities in health outcomes by 10 per cent. by 2010.
