Royal Mail

asked Her Majesty's Government:Further to the Written Answer by Baroness Vadera on 3 April (WA 206), on which date Ministers last discussed the possibility of a full or partial privatisation of Royal Mail; and what were their conclusions.
Answer

The Government have no plans to privatise Royal Mail. Royal Mail management's proposal for an employee share scheme was considered and rejected by Ministers in 2007 on the grounds of the substantial impact on the public finances.
