- To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what his Department's plans are for the decommissioning of Type 42 destroyers.

Our present planning assumptions, which are kept under review, are that the Type 42 destroyers will be withdrawn from service on the following dates:
Type 42 destroyers Withdrawal date HMS Southampton 2009 HMS Exeter 2009 HMS Nottingham 2010 HMS Manchester 2011 HMS Gloucester 2011 HMS Liverpool 2012 HMS York 2012 HMS Edinburgh 2013
