Kosovo: Recognition of States

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many countries have recognised the Republic of Kosovo; and what steps he is taking to assist the government of Kosovo to increase the number.
Answer

At the time of writing 43 countries have recognised the Republic of Kosovo, including 20 in the EU and seven of the Group of Eight leading industrialised nations (G8). The UK is taking opportunities as they arise in bilateral discussions and multilateral forums, working closely with like-minded international partners and alongside the government of Kosovo, to encourage further recognition.
