Prescriptions: Fees and Charges

(4) how many cancer patients paid prescription charges in the latest year for which figures are available.
Answer

The expected cost of exempting cancer patients in England from prescription charges is around £20 million a year. This will be funded from within our existing Comprehensive Spending Review settlement.We do not hold figures on how many cancer patients currently pay prescription charges however, we estimate this to be in the region of 250,000 people.
