Astute Class Submarines: Ballistic Missiles
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will take steps to enable the design and build for the new Astute class submarines to allow for the retro-fitting of conventional intercontinental ballistic missiles.
- Answer
-
The Astute Class submarines are not physically large enough to accommodate Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, and therefore there is no possibility that they will be retrofitted.
