Taxation: Prisoners
- Question
- To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Prison Service ruling that prisoners may not be employed and pay tax applies to prisoners in open prisons.

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs takes the view that because prisoners working inside prisons, whatever the category of prison, are working under prison rules, they cannot be treated as employees for tax and NICs purposes.
