Welfare Tax Credits: Overpayments

Question: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many overpayments of tax credit to residents of Carshalton and Wallington there were in the last 12 months; and what proportion of the number of tax credits for such residents this represents.

Answer: Estimates of the number of families with tax credit awards, including information on overpayments by constituency, based on final family circumstances and incomes, for 2003-04 to 2006-07 are available in the HMRC publications, "Child and Working Tax Credits Statistics, Finalised Annual Awards. Supplement on Payments, Geographical Analyses", for each relevant year.
