[holding answer 14 September 2009]: I have been asked to reply.Responsibility for the War Pensions Scheme was passed from the Department of Work and Pensions to the Ministry of Defence in 2000.The scheme is kept under constant review and in June 2007, a Stewardship review, which includes the management and administration of the scheme, was announced to the Central Advisory Committee on Pensions and Compensation (CAC), the statutory body for matters relating to war pensions, made up of representatives of ex-service organisations. A package of amendments was made to the scheme in April 2009, mainly to ease administration or correct anomalies in certain areas. The CAC will be fully consulted if any further changes to the scheme are proposed.
