Departmental Official Cars

Question
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office what estimate she has made of the cost to her Department of providing official cars for the use of (a) Ministers and (b) officials in the last 12 months.
Answer

With regard to the cost of allocated official cars and drivers by Ministers and officials, I refer the hon. Member to the written ministerial statement made by the Under-Secretary of State for Transport, my hon. Friend the Member for Gillingham (Paul Clark), on 16 July 2009, Official Report, column 80WS. Since 12 October 2009 the Cabinet Office has reduced the number of cars allocated to Ministers and officials to four.
