- To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families how many full-time equivalent teaching assistants there were in schools in Preston in (a) 1997 and (b) on the latest date for which figures are available.
- Answer

There were 170 full-time equivalent teaching assistants in service in local authority maintained schools in Preston constituency in January 1997 and 480 in January 2009.
