- To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what information his Department provides to the public on identification of (a) counterfeit coins and (b) new coinage brought into circulation.

The Royal Mint is responsible for the manufacture of UK coinage. 'A guide for identifying genuine coins' and information on 'UK decimal coins issued into general circulation up to 2008' are available on the Royal Mint's website:"www.royalmint.com"as is the 2008-09 Annual Report which contains data on the 'Issues of circulating coins 2008-09' and the 'Estimated Value and number of coins in circulation March 2009'.
