Pupils: Bullying

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what recent estimate his Department has made of the level of bullying in schools.

Answer: The annual TellUs survey gives us information on the extent of bullying in school. According to TellUs 3 (2008) 56 per cent. of young people say they have never been bullied in school and 39 per cent. say they have been bullied in school.Overall 48 per cent. of young people surveyed said they had been bullied at some time during the last year, either in or out of school.
