- (2) what his latest estimate is of the proportion of wine in the UK market which is sold fraudulently without value added tax and excise duty having been paid.

The Department does not currently have an estimate for the level of fraud in wine.The most recent estimate of the revenue lost for spirits and tobacco was published in "Measuring Tax Gaps—2009" in November 2009 and is available in the House of Commons Library and can be found on the internet at:"http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/stats/measuring-tax-gaps.htm"
