Pakistan
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they have made, or intend to make, representations to the Government of Pakistan about the use of child labour under 14 years of age.
- Answer
-
The UK is committed to working with the Government of Pakistan to address the issue of child labour. Together with our EU partners, the UK regularly raises its concerns about the use of child labour and has lobbied the Government of Pakistan to implement existing legislation which protects children from such abuse. The most recent EU demarche on this issue was in December 2009. The issue of child labour will also form part of the forthcoming EU-Pakistan Human Rights dialogue.
